The Rescue Specialty is designed to help you build confidence handling emergency situations underwater and at the surface while improving your awareness, communication, and problem-solving abilities in real-world diving environments. Throughout the course, you’ll develop practical rescue skills and learn how to recognize and respond to diver stress before situations escalate.
You’ll begin with approximately 2–4 hours of self-paced eLearning, completed on your schedule. The academic portion covers diver stress, emergency management, self-rescue techniques, assisting tired or panicked divers, underwater problem-solving, and effective rescue response procedures.

Yes. Basic swimming ability and comfort in the water are required for scuba diving certification courses. You do not need to be an advanced swimmer, but you should be comfortable floating, treading water, and swimming short distances independently.
