Instructor Alexandra
Alex is the founder of Under The Sea Diving. At 29 years old, she brings over 13 years of diving experience and is originally from Cologne, Germany. She completed her first certification in Cadaqués, Spain—where she fell in love with the underwater world.
Starting as an SSI diver and later becoming a PADI Instructor, Alex has spent the past four years teaching and guiding in San Diego. She has a special love for whale sharks, turtles, and octopi—each encounter a reminder of why she’s so passionate about diving. She also provides excellent underwater photography, capturing unforgettable moments beneath the surface.
With a background in early childhood education, patience, support, and clear communication are at the core of her teaching style. Safety is always the top priority, and she is dedicated to creating a comfortable, no-pressure environment where students can learn confidently and truly enjoy the experience.
Instructor Jamie
Jamie is a highly experienced diver, instructor and professional waterman with over 25 years of combined military, professional, and recreational diving experience in some of the world’s most demanding environments.
He began diving in San Diego in 2004 and has since logged dives around the world, including deep, wreck, drift, night, and rescue diving.
After becoming a Divemaster in 2023, Jamie earned his PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification in 2025. His background in the U.S. Navy as a Rescue Swimmer shaped his strong foundation in safety, discipline, and decision-making under pressure, having performed life-saving missions in some of the most demanding conditions.
Jamie is known for his calm, confident presence and his ability to connect with students of all levels. He focuses on building skills, confidence, and situational awareness, always prioritizing safety while creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
Instructor Rebecca
Rebecca began diving in 2022 after spending time in Southeast Asia, where she fell in love with the region’s vibrant marine life and coral reefs. That experience led her to pursue her Divemaster certification in the summer of 2024 at Divewise, a renowned technical dive center in Malta.
During her time there, she completed up to three dives a day, exploring shipwrecks while assisting with both recreational and technical courses. Immersed in a fast-paced environment, she developed strong interpersonal skills and gained valuable hands-on experience, solidifying her commitment to a career in diving.
After Malta, Rebecca relocated to San Diego, where she began working as a Divemaster and continued her progression. She earned her Instructor certification in February 2026.
As an instructor, Rebecca is known for her patience and supportive teaching style. She focuses on helping new divers feel comfortable, confident, and safe—creating a positive, no-pressure environment where students can truly enjoy their time underwater.
