The PADI Dive Against Debris Specialty is designed to help you actively protect the underwater world while learning how divers can make a direct positive impact on marine environments. Throughout the course, you’ll develop practical conservation-focused diving skills while learning how to safely remove marine debris, identify environmental hazards, and contribute to global ocean conservation efforts.
You’ll begin with approximately 2–4 hours of self-paced eLearning, completed on your schedule. The academic portion covers marine debris awareness, environmental impacts on marine ecosystems, responsible debris removal techniques, underwater cleanup procedures, data collection and reporting, and how divers contribute to long-term conservation initiatives through the Dive Against Debris program.

Yes. Basic swimming ability and comfort in the water are required for scuba diving certification courses. You do not need to be an advanced swimmer, but you should be comfortable floating, treading water, and swimming short distances independently.
